So here I am. Sorry for not writing. It's been an interesting few months. This summer has been nothing short of a blur.
Almost exactly 3 months ago, I graduated from CCSU. At the time, there was such an anticipation, it seemed like it would never come. And now it's a distant memory. I just finished my graduate school orientation and I'm one credit closer to getting my masters. (So the driving an hour each way for a week was worth it.)
After a brief week of relaxing with my cousins and whatnot, I started my summer class. It was terrible, I had walked at the XL center, but I had to go back to school? And worse, learn about King Arthur? At first it wasn't so bad, but I had to miss the most amazing week of the year and the best place on earth for the second year in a row. However on the plus side, As of right now it looks as though I will be going to LMC 2012. Even if I have class again. It will only be one day for four hours. But it sounds like I will be finished before camp even starts. I wish I could explain the joy that that brings me.
I spent a lot of time with Jon this summer, and he moved out of his parents house! However with Interning all week and then class we will not see each as much. But I'm trying to look on the bright side of things. It will mean much more when we are together now and we probably won't bicker as much because we won't be spending every waking moment together. Also...2 years in a few weeks!
The final thing I will leave you with is of course writing related. I've been spending pretty much every free moment (and even at work some...shhh) working on a new idea. I'm on my 16th chapter and I'm figuring I'm going to need about 5 more to get where I want to go. For along time I thought that my trilogy (Carceral, Manumit and Venerate) were going to be my "babies" so to speak. I'm even proud to say that 2 out of 3 have their rough draft written. But it was so hard. I created a world, races, religions, history etc etc etc. And it got to be too much for me to handle. I love it of course, but I'm not certain that some else reading it would like it right now for anything besides the main characters romance and it's more than just that! So for now Carceral will sit in Jon's house, Manumit will be in my desk and Venerate will be written someday. I'm not giving up on it, I just need to look at it from a different perspective and I'm not ready to do that yet...
So anyway...NEW project. I'm actually being really secretive about it because I really want it to be a surprise if it goes anywhere. I think I've told my cousin Ashley, Jon and my brother about it. What I will say is that it's a YA fantasy/paranormal story. And that it also has influences from my real life. One being the setting (loosely) and the other being a few characters, one in particular. I'm hoping this will not be an issue (I'm not exactly sure how they would feel to know that they are a character in my book) but it's really more so a situation in the beginning of the story that is similar to something that happened to me. It kind of spins off from there. To be honest, I really don't care because the feelings that I was "revisiting" made for some great writing as well as a killer story playlist. :)
I'm really excited about it. And have been working on it for about...2 months and change. Once it's done, I'm gonna put it away for awhile. I met an author a few weeks ago that said to "let it think about what's it's done" and I thought that was a hilarious way to describe it. That way, when I pick it up in say...a month, it will be new again, and ready to be made better.
I'm telling you I've become a nut. :)
